How to Cook Frozen Chicken Wings
We developed the perfect cooking method so that your frozen TGI Friday’s chicken wings are perfection when you remove them from the oven or the microwave.
Keep in mind that it’s best not to let frozen chicken wings thaw. They should be cooked while they’re still frozen to keep your food bacteria free.
If you prefer the taste of thawed chicken wings over frozen wings, never leave them out on your counter for too long. Instead, thaw them in your fridge before cooking.

If you’ve got the time and want to make your own breading and hot sauce for your chicken wings, we’ve got the TGI Friday buffalo chicken copycat recipe just for you.
This recipe serves 5 people at 2 chicken wings per person. There are about 150 calories for each serving.
- 10 chicken wings
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of paprika
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper, ground
- 1 teaspoon of thyme
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of cayenne pepper hot sauce (or substitute any other type of hot sauce)
- 1/2 cup of butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper, ground
- 2 teaspoons of garlic powder or garlic salt
- First, thaw your chicken wings in your fridge. Before you start, they should be dry so the breading sticks without making your wings soggy.
- Once thawed, mix the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, thyme, and salt in a medium or large-sized mixing bowl. This is the breading for your chicken wings.
- Place your chicken wings in the mixing bowl. Use your hands to move them through the breading mix until each wing is fully covered.
- Place the wings in the fridge and let them sit for an hour. This makes sure the breading sticks to the wings.
- When you remove your chicken wings from the fridge, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a small saucepan, mix the hot sauce, butter, honey, brown sugar, black pepper, and garlic powder. Put it on medium-high heat until the sauce starts to boil.
- When the sauce is boiling, turn it down to simmer to keep it warm. This is the buffalo sauce for your wings.
- Cover your baking sheet and spray it with cooking spray to prevent the chicken wings from sticking. Place the wings on the baking sheet with at least an inch in between them. Spritz the wings with water so they’ll stay soft while baking. Set the oven timer for about 6 minutes and place the wings in the oven.
- When time is up, remove the baking sheet from the oven and flip your wings. Return them to the oven and bake for another 5 to 6 minutes.
- When they’re finished, the wings should be a golden brown. Use a food thermometer to check the internal temperature of your wings. They should be at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Lay your wings in a large mixing bowl and pour in your hot sauce. Toss, making sure each wing is evenly covered in the buffalo hot sauce.
- Let the chicken wings cool before serving with blue cheese or ranch.
