Momofuku is a chain of restaurants owned and operated by David Chang, a celebrity chef, television personality and book author. Inspired by the Japanese ramen houses in Japan, Momofuku follows the same concept but incorporating adventure and quirky ideas by cooking food that they feel will be appropriate or represented by their current mood. With experimenting comes the slews of challenges but Chef Chang and his team only are stronger, making their cuisines better with each day. Many food critics, such as the well-known The New York Times, rewarded all their efforts with the elusive two stars.
Besides the Momofuku brand, Milk Bar has also slowly gained popularity among foodies and eaters because of the quirky concept to off a desserts concept in ramen houses or Japanese-inspired restaurants. Pastry Chef Christina Tosi was the one who started the desserts program, growing along nicely with the Momofuku brand, getting six locations to boast. Using what she knows and what Chef Chang learned gave them the courage to continue opening different restaurants based on the Momofuku concept.
